What a wonderful site!
I thoroughly enjoyed the history and related pictures and have sent the #@*%! on to my sister Jennifer Blignaut (nee Stabbins).
I left Dursley in 1956 with my late parents Daniel and Mildred Stabbins and sister Jennifer (who also lives here in Johannesburg). We have the most fond memories of this beautful town and often get together to laugh and remember Dursley.
Thank you so much for your efforts in bringing back such a super time in our lives.

Anyone wanting to rate or review pubs in Dursley or get into contact with old drinking friends should try pubs galore, couldn't quite get the full link in the webpage box but sure you can work it out

I know this is a long shot but there may be someone reading the guest book who can help me in my search for a long lost pal. Almost fifty years ago a young man with the family name THOMAS joined the Royal navy as an Artificer Apprentice. I remember that he came from Dursley. Our apprentice class has a fifty year reunion planned for 2006 and Tom is still missing.
Thanks, in advance

Like some other visitors to the site, I found it whilst looking for something else! I have only hazy recollections of Dursley, not having been there for 30? years. My grandfather Mr F.W.Moore was the dentist in Dursley for some years and we have some photos of my aunt in fancy dress for the opening of the library. I certainly had measles in Dursley and was attended by Dr. Fayle.
I think you have made an excellent job of the web site.

Thank you this interesting website. My 'Gibbon & Cross' families lived on and around Bolton Lane until they moved across to Troedyrhiw in the mid 1850's. My G* Grandfather was killed on Bolton Lane when he was run over by a wagon in 1842! Look forward to visiting the Heritage Centre someday.

Digging in some family archives, I came across a Hugenot branch of my family (Francillon, from Switzerland)) which emigrated from France at the same time, but to to England. Some descendants lived in Dursley: Henry-James Francillon(1842-1926), a lawyer in D. Among his 7 children was a Francis-Robert Francillon (1887-1962) who ran a tea plantation in Ceylon. He had 1 daughter, Phyllida who married Robert A.H. Soames in 1936. There is also a Francis Edward Francillon (b.1889) who supposedly lived in Dursley in 1939. Anyone know anything about them?????

Francis was a solicitor in Dursley for many years. His son was still alive in February '07 when I visited him in Uley. He was in his early 90s then. I think one of his sons is a lawyer somewhere.

Lived in Upthorpe, Cam, went to Rednock, ran for Dursley Athletics club. Ran miles around the area. FANTASTIC country side. This site brought back so many memories. Emigrated to N.Z. and now live on the Gold Coast, Australia.

Thanks for a great page that brought back many memories. I lived in Cam/Dursley between 1950 and 1959 and have many fond childhood memories of the area. The audio of John Humphries rekindled memories of riding the footplate between Coaley and Dursley on many a weekend - my grandparents lived behind Coaley Station. Again many thanks for a great trip down memory lane. Keep up the good work.

I lived in Dursley from birth until 1983. I went to Highfield junior school and then went to Rednock. I then went to Dursley Tech. I lived in St. George's Road until I married and moved to Watford. My family still live there, known as the Trinders. Love to hear from anyone.

Born & bred in Dursley but moved here in 1991. I still think of "Diesel Town" as home. The site is absolutely brilliant (well laid out, it must have taken lots of hard work) and the old photos are fascinating. Although I've see a few pics in the 'around Dursley in old photos' books series there are quite a number I hadn't seen. My Father was in the Fire service in the late 60's/early 70's so that particular section brings back fond memories!
Maybe a sports section with photos and history of clubs etc would be good.
Andy Thursday, 27 May 2004 12:18
Thanks for the message Richard. I have many, many more old photographs and documents to go on the site and one section that I certainly intend to add is for clubs and organisations.

Thank you for your website. We are leaving tomorrow for Europe and will spend the last week at Owlpen Manor. After printing out various Cotswolds towns, I must make sure to spend a day in Dursley and Uley.

I really enjoyed looking through the photos of Cam & Dursley, old and new. It's a really good site and even though I have never left the area I found it very interesting.

I really enjoyed the site, it brought back many memories of Dursley and Cam. I lived in Cam until I was 13, then we emigrated to Canada. That was in 1981 but the area has changed a lot since then, I have to take my girlfriend to see the area so she can experience the area.
