Great Web site Andy. I was born and raised in Dursley. 50's, 60's and 70's.
Stinchcombe Hill was our playground. I lived in Woodfield, one of the Marment Road folks. There were at least 20 youth living in the Cul-de-sac which made for great fun. Many of us went on to play Football, Rugby, Cricket for Dursley. I was one of the founding members of Dursley Modern School Brass Band. Johnny Morris our Gym master grabbed a few of us to make up the band. You didn't argue with Johnny. I played Cornet and later went on to play with the Stinchcombe Silver Band and Gloucester Youth Orchestra for a season. In the 60's one of our hang-outs was the Rec centre and the Toll House Cafe. Kings Head was my local. We had a Skittle Team called the Barrow Boys. My dad Frank Turner worked at Dursley Post office, many will remember him delivering the post and later working behind the counter. On his retirement you would find him playing Golf on Stinchcombe Hill. He played into his 80's. He died last year at the age of 87. Keep up the good work with this site. Hello to all that know me and don't forget to e-mail. Regards to all

Hi Chris
Thanks for this. John Morris is still going strong, he's let me use some of his photographs for this site. All the best.
