Me and family are thinking about coming here via the train from Norwich. We've also heard about boats to Berney Arms - any info about that?
Andy Friday, 17 February 2012 21:39
There used to be a trip boat from Yarmouth to Berney Arms during the summer months but I'm not sure if that still happens. Tourist Information may know more.

Nice site. Visiting as my family are local:mother was born in Wickhampton & father in Reedham. I also have railway connections: my grandfather, Walter (Tiny) Powles was head porter at Reedham & later stationmaster at Yarmouth Vauxhall.

I am trying to find Robert McGloughlin who used to own Berney Arms Inn with his partner Stephen. I used to stay with them at the pub when i was a little girl, helping out in the kitchen, i was a very close friend. If anyone knows of them can you let me know. Lost touch a few years ago and trying to get back in touch. Thanks

Loads of nostalgia, I used to spend all my holidays in the farm & windmill opposite the Berney Arms Windmill, my Mother would row me across the river and send me shopping in Gt Yarmouth, at the tender at age 10! Innocent times 47 years ago.
Very interesting site.

Bootiful scenery It makes a nice change from the hills of the Peak District here. As they say though, you don't really appreciate what's on your doorstep.

Thanks for that - we have stayed at Gales Cruisers at Loddon/Chedgrave and had identified the Reedham Ferry site as a base for more Wherrymans Way but not thought of it for Weavers Way!

We have been walking sections of the Weavers Way for the last few years using our motorhome as a base. Is there a suitable caravan/camp site south of Acle that would be suitable to do this section to Yarmouth and return by train to Acle?

Site is a great idea.
Will it be possible to put the pub opening times on the website?
Andy (site admin) Wednesday, 14 April 2010 09:09
Hi there. The site has no direct connection with the pub so it's always best to phone them on 01493 700303 to check times.

The broads authority have purchased 37 met of quay heading at The Berney Moorings quite close to the windmill. There will be free 24 hour hour moorings for boaters and eventually will have mains electric hook up points...Dave R
