My favourite place in Norfolk and I'm born and bred. Go on a winter's day and find solitude and a pint! I always go on the train and walk from Yarmouth to Reedham.

Went by boat at August Bank Holiday and moored here for a couple of nights, lovely spot but bit rough when the tide races. The pub's lovely, nice food, good beer, friendly staff.
Went by train in September one Saturday from Norwich and had the mixed grill again for lunch at the pub and just managed to waddle back to the station in time for the train back.

After about 8 years of trying to get myself to the Berney Arms Public House, I finally managed to do so on 14th Sept 2008...and it was well worth the wait.

Food was spot-on and the drink the same. Owners of the pub seemed to be most welcoming and friendly and because of all this I would quite happily return...

Roll on next year when I shall make that journey....

We are having the 8th annual Berney reunion at the Inn on Sunday 7th Sept from 12 noon onwards. There will be a carvery at the inn and there is now a teashop at the side of the inn. The train services are better this year. Everyone is welcome to come along for a yarn.
I have a few copies of Berney arms Remembered available at £8.50 for anyone interested.

Hi folks
The summer Saturday only loco hauled trains are running again and have beem sponsored by Norfolk County Council. They run non stop from Norwich at 10am and 12 noon via Berney Arms. They no longer drag an unfortunate electric loco across the marshes and tend to be top and tailed with a class 47. big grin
cheers
Ian - NCC Railways Officer.

Unfortunately still no sign of the sails of Berney turning. In consolation though it was very nice to see Mutton's mill in action today!

Lovely web site - loved the pics of Berney Arms Mill. Will be seeing it for myself June 2008 on our first boating trip to Norfolk Broads.

Chris Shepherd was the landlord of The Berney pub for some years and sadly passed away in late 2006.There is now a seat in his memory constructed in stainless steel and positioned on the bank of the River Yare outside the Berney Pub.

It was so nice to read the article and see the pictures of Beach station in Yarmouth. As a boy I used to go there on Saturdays with my barrow to take holiday makers to their hotels or caravan sites.
