Who remembers any of the railway staff?
I'm trying to build up a list of the staff who worked the old line from Coaley to Dursley. If you know of any names, along with dates and jobs I'd welcome any feedback.

Andy, I used to live at Highfields when I was a boy. Walking home from school many days I would walk along Second Avenue with a Mister Carpenter, a very tall man with a long coat. He was black as soot and always carried a can with a handle, he told me he was a train driver. Many years later I used to work with Jim Carpenter and asked him if he knew of him. He told me it was his dad, Dave.

Thanks for that Dave. You must be referring to Ernie Carpenter who was a train driver on the branch-line for many years. I have some pictures of him somewhere driving the engine, Andy.

Hi Dave
Ernie was my Grandfather, Jim my Father.
It would be great to see any old photos.
I can remember Ernie stopping at the Cam level crossing, he used to give me 2 shillings to spend.
It was a very hard life!
