In the 1851 Census for Thomas Woodward he is shown as 58 (suggests birth year 1793) He shows place of birth as Tewkesbury. He became a successful Surveyor, moved to London, married Mary Richardson 18 Dec 1814. This man is my great, great, great, great grandfather.

It appears to be difficult to tie down exactly where or if he was born in Tewkesbury. A Thomas Woodward was born in Tewkesbury 13 Mar 1700 to Thomas and Jone (correct spelling) Woodward. 93 years later we get to the following events;

Elizabeth Phillimore (b: 1770 Dursley) married Thomas Woodward 8 Oct 1792 and had a male child, Thomas Woodward (b: 27 Oct 1793) The record shows this boy was christened at St Nicholas Church, Gloucester. However, there is also a St Nicholas Church at Tewkesbury.

Is there anyone in Dursley doing research on the Woodward Family in Gloucestershire? I am in Adelaide, South Australia, so it's a bit of a hike to pop in and look for records in the local churches.

Any help or ideas would be gratefully received
