There was certainly another pub on Chapel Street, Patricia. It was the Lamb Inn and the building still survives.

There are several pictures of Dursley taken during WW2. What subjects are you interested in?

Here's another picture of the original wooden Gallows Bridge. Taken from the other side of the line to the postcard view.

Hi Joanna
Somehow I missed your earlier post, sorry out that but thanks for leaving it - very interesting. I do actually have picture of Rivers Mill House which I'll dig out along with any other information I can find. Are you still writing your novel?
Thanks
Andy

Thanks for these. I've always seen the name of this bridge written as Gallows Bridge, so it's interesting to see an alternative spelling.

Re: Dursley Road, Woodfield
Just a few bits of information for now Tim, and a map of the area from 1922, showing your house I believe. You can see the Yew Tree, built where it is because Stinchcombe didn't want any public houses within the Parish. Consequently the pub was built as close as possible to Stinchcombe, but within t...

Thanks for the photos. You quite right, that what is left of the memorial gardens is now part of someone's private garden.

Re: Cam Memorial Gardens
The Cam Winterbotham Memorial Gardens opened officially on 13th July 1937. They were built as a memorial to Herbert Brend Winterbotham (1867-1925) and Blanche Anna Winterbotham (1872-1934) and made possible by their daughters. The Winterbothams lived at Norman Hill House and owned Cam Mills which cl...

Yes, I have copies of the films and they will go on display later next year at one of the Dursley & Cam Society meetings in the town hall. The date is not decided yet.
