Re: Galas Bridge, Everlands
I crossed the bridge nearly every day to and from school. We thought of it as the Gallows Bridge but referred to it as the Gallas Bridge in the same way as we said fellas for fellows or windas for windows. This is an old undated postcard of the bridge as I remember it .

Re: Longstreth
It's only recently that Long Street came up in searching my family. The father of Herbert, Ellen's son, was Richard Hill. Ellen and Richard married in 1881 and they had two more boys, Leonard and Richard. Richard Snr died in 1886, leaving Ellen and her three boys to go into Dursley Workhouse. Richar...

Re: Gallows Bridge
I remember having to cross the wooden Gallows Bridge on my way to school at Upper Cam. The boy that fell from the bridge was named Isles, I can't remember his first name, and I am sure that he lived in St. Georges Road.

Re: Lister in house magazines
I have a rather battered copy of GOSSIP No. 2, which appears to be a newsletter sent around during WWII. Also a copy of THE TEAM no 2, not dated, but issued when the the Hospital and Benefit Fun was being run down due to the introduction of the NHS. This is also the worse for wear but readable.

Re: Norman Hill House, Cam
The gardener in question was my Grandfather, he stayed tending the grounds until they were sold off. He died 1965 aged 93. The nickname was a little unfair to him.

Re: Travelling on the branch
The accident on the gallows bridge was about 1950ish, the boy's family name was Isles, but I can't remember his first name.
I think that the family lived in St George's Road.

Re: Uley and North Nibley Ancestors
I found this photograph amongst my wife's family collection. No one seems to be able to identify anyone on it. I am assuming that it a North Nibley lodge from the name. On the back is a collection of signatures but fewer than persons on the front with no indication of who is who. If anyone is able t...

Dursley Pigeon Racing
This photograph was taken at the annual show of the Dursley Pigeon Racing Club about 1966/68. The only name I know is
the left hand person at the table, Eric Organ. The show took place in Mawdsley's canteen.
