Re: WORLD WAR 2 IN CAM/DURSLEY

Hi Ken Thank you for the information on the snuff box. It sure sounds like it could have been my brother's. He worked at the Dursley Post Office for many years before being promoted to district manager. I would love to have it as all I have is wonderful memories of him. My e-mail is Jupat@columbus.r...

Re: Netherton Nursing Home, Cam

My husband was born in a nursing home in Cam in 1936. He does not know the name of the facility but being that Cam was pretty small especially in that era it is probably the one you are asking about. He tells me it was located across the road from the pre-fab homes. At one time (perhaps the late 50'...

Re: Information - Heslop

From JEAW. Hi again Mr. Heslop (cannot remember your first name). I do remember Workman's who lived in First Ave. I would guess the house number for them was 34. They had one daughter called "Joy" who was a year or so older than me but we hung around together for years. Her dad worked at M...

Re: Lister's Workman's Club

Well I am just a year older than you so I am sure our paths have crossed in our youth. My sister lived on Highfields App. close to 3rd ave. I also have had contact with the Richings family members who lived lower down towards Uley Rd. We have not visited Dursley for 13 years but have lots of friends...

Re: Lister's Workman's Club

Hi, we wondered what your father's name was and where did you guys live in Dursley? I lived in First Ave most of my young life, my husband lived at Cam Green but worked at Lister's from 1952-1967.

Re: Ferney Hill House

Regarding the photo of Ferney Hill cook's.... The lady on the far right is Amelia Bullimore who I believe lived in Highfields. The lady half hidden in the center of the photo I am told is Phyllis Stokes from Rockstowes. My Mother and sister both worked at the "Blind Home" as it was called ...

Re: WORLD WAR 2 IN CAM//DURSLEY

Yes I am Alan Whittard's younger sister. I do remember your mother Joan Burton, she was about my brother's age and lived next door to a White family who also had a daughter "Joan". Where is your mother now? Do they still live in the Dursley area? I have reconnected with another neighbour o...

Re: Hancock Family

Hi Janet That does sound right, I learned something as I did not know my Auntie Lucy's second name was Annie which explains why I have Ann as one my names. My other middle name is Elizabeth which was one of Roy's mother's names. My sister thought Roy's mother's name was Grace but I thought it was Ma...

Re: WORLD WAR 2 IN CAM//DURSLEY

Just wanted you to know that the only air raid shelter I can remember in Dursley was along Uley Road close to Mawdsleys but across the road in a field. It was built with brick sides and very thick cement roof, very low building with cement seats along each wall. I can't remember the length of the st...
